El señor Edgar Chamorro Marín (SIECA), expresó
que este Proyecto constituye un evento histórico debido
a que es la primera experiencias de un mecanismo RAC en
el sector privado de los países del istmo centroamericano,
el cual persigue el fortalecimiento de la armonía del país
en el marco del Tratado de Libre Comercio Centroamérica-Estados
Unidos.
Agregó que la visión
de este tipo de programas es la de dirigir el proceso de mediación
laboral hacia mecanismos imparciales y de mayor participación
de parte de los usuarios, lo que se traduce en una disminución
de la conflictividad laboral en el país, mediante formulas
innovadoras de participación activa por parte de los diferentes
actores sociales, a través de la mediación profesional.
El señor Roberto Ardón
(CACIF), destacó la importancia de resolver los
problemas laborales por la vía de los métodos alternativos
y dejar para la historia los métodos empleados durante
40 años en Guatemala. Sobre el método RAC
comentó que entre sus ventajas está la resolución
de conflictos a menor tiempo y costo, donde las partes involucradas
experimentan sensación de justicia y permiten dar sostenibilidad
a las relaciones laborales.
El señor Loren Stoddard (AID),
expresó que para la Agencia de los Estados Unidos para
el Desarrollo Internacional, es importante apoyar este tipo de
proyectos, los cuales espera sean replicados en otros países
del Istmo, ya que el empleo de métodos como el RAC
son de beneficio para los trabajadores y empresarios.

Mr. Edgar Chamorro Marín from SIECA stated that
this Project is a historic event, as it is the first experience
of a RAC mechanism in the Central American private sector,
and it intends to reinforce the country´s harmony inside
the framework of the Central America-USA Free Trade Agreement.
He added that the vision of this type of programs is to direct
the labor mediating process toward impartial mechanisms that imply
more participation from users, thus translating itself into a
reduction of labor conflicts in the country through innovative
formulas of active participation by the diverse social actors,
through professional mediators.
Mr. Roberto Ardón from CACIF highlighted the importance
of solving labor problems through alternate methods, and forgetting
those methods that have been used in Guatemala during the past
40 years. About the RAC method, he commented that among its advantages
it includes solving conflicts faster and with lower costs, hence
the involved parties feel there is a sense of justice and it allow
for sustainable labor relationships.
Mr. Loren Stoddard stated that for the United States International
Development Agency, it is important to support this type of projects,
which he hopes will be implemented in other countries of the region,
as the use of methods such as RAC are beneficial for both workers
and businessmen.
Mr. Mario Gordillo, Guatemala Vice Minister of Labor, expressed
that it is most satisfactory to see these type of projects being
implemented in the private sector, and he congratulated VESTEX
for taking the first steps in searching for a prompt resolution
of labor conflicts in the Apparel and Textile sector. “Through
immediate resolution of conflict we will reach social peace”,
he said.
