Las telas de trama tejida son muy populares en Norte, Centro y Sur América porque generalmente son livianas, relativamente baratas y cómodas. Eso, por supuesto, además de tener otras ventajas; pero a menudo hay problemas que tienen que enfrentar con frecuencia los tejedores, y quienes tiñen o realizan acabados.

Barre’ es uno de los problemas que las empresas con frecuencia tienen que aprender a identificar, prevenir, minimizar o al menos resolver. En telas de trama tejida, se define como una raya horizontal en la tela que puede ser continua y/o intermitente. Dichas rayas horizontales pueden estar asociadas sólo con una dirección (o fila horizontal de argollas) o varios sentidos (p.ej. barre’ en línea o banda). Dicho barre’ puede ser provocado por los hilos y las características que se utilizan para tejer la tela, y/o por parámetros asociados con la máquina tejedora empleada y/o por una amplia gama de “otros factores” a menudo no asociados directamente con los hilos que se utilizan o la tejedora. Tales “otros” factores podrían incluir procedimientos utilizados, entrenamiento que se ha dado, condiciones de temperatura y humedad, etc.

La Tabla 1 ilustra parámetros específicos de hilo y máquina tejedora que han mostrado causar barre’ ya sea intermitente o de línea continua o banda. La información que se documenta en la Tabla 2 sugiere algunas técnicas potenciales que podrían usarse con telas jacquard y no jacquard para reducir y/o eliminar el problema de barre’.

Observarán que aunque las causas de barre’ se indican en la Tabla 1, la tabla no indica directamente cómo podría reducirse, minimizarse o prevenirse el barre’.

Weft knitted fabrics are very popular in North, Central and South America because they generally are lightweight, relatively inexpensive, and comfortable. Of course, in addition to having other advantages; there are often problems that knitters, dyers and finishers and also apparel manufacturers have to deal with on a frequent basis.

Barre’ is one of the frequent problems that companies have to learn to identify, prevent, minimize or at least solve on a frequent basis. In weft knitted fabrics, barre’ is defined as a horizontal streak in the fabric that can be continuous and/or intermittent. Such horizontal streaks can be associated with only one course (or horizontal row of loops) or a number of courses (i.e., line or band barre’). Such barre’ can be caused by the yarns and their characteristics that are used to knit the fabric, and/or by parameters associated with the knitting machine used and/or by an entire range of “other factors” not often directly associated with the yarns used or the knitting machine. Such “other” factors could include procedures used, training provided, temperature and humidity conditions etcetera.

Table 1 illustrates selected yarn and knitting machine parameters that have been shown to cause either intermittent or continuous line or band barre’. Information documented in Table 2 suggests some potential techniques that could be used with jacquard and non-jacquard fabrics to reduce and/or eliminate the problem of barre’.

It will be noted that although causes of barre’ are listed in Table 1, the table does not indicate directly how barre’ could be reduced, minimized or prevented.
