En
un esfuerzo conjunto, VESTEX y la Facultad de Textiles de
la Universidad de Carolina del Norte anuncian el Programa
VESTEX-NCSU de Pasantías en Centro América.
El programa
consiste en enviar a un equipo de estudiantes a trabajar
en diferentes proyectos en empresas textiles de los países
de Centro América, para brindar apoyo técnico
a la industria textil. Ayudándoles a preparse para
enfrentar el reto posterior al 2005 y aprovechar las ventajas
que traerá la firma del Tratado de Libre Comercio
entre Estados Unidos y Centro América (CAFTA, por
sus siglas en inglés). Este programa se enfocará en
las áreas de I&D (Investigación y Desarrollo),
diseño de textiles y vestuario, teñidos y
acabados, procesos de automatización y procesos
de optimización y reducción de costos. El
Programa Piloto iniciará en Guatemala el próximo
verano (de mayo a junio de 2004).
Los participantes
en el programa son estudiantes de la Facultad de Textiles
de la Universidad de Carolina del Norte de las carreras
de Ingeniería Química, Ingeniería
Textil, Ingeniería Química de Colores y Polímeros,
Ingeniería en Ciencias de Materiales y Administración
de Tecnología del Vestuario. Los estudiantes trabajarán
bajo la supervisión del personal de las empresas
y miembros de la Facultad de Textiles de NCSU.
Este programa
es sólo parte de una serie de proyectos de VESTEX
y la Universidad de Carolina del Norte para apoyar a la
industria textil de Centroamérica.

In
a joint effort VESTEX and the College of Textiles of North
Carolina State University announce the VESTEX-NCSU Central
America Internship Program.
The
program involves sending teams of NCSU students to work
in different projects at textile mills’ in order to provide technical
support to the textile industry in Central America and
to help in the mills preparation to better prepare to take
advantage of the new business opportunities that the CAFTA
(Central America Free Trade Agreement) will offer. The
Summer Internship Program will be focused on R&D, fabric
and apparel design, dyeing and finishing, process automation
and optimization and cost reduction. The Pilot Program
will start in Guatemala May through June 2004.
The participants
in this program are students of NC State College of Textiles
who are majoring in Chemical Engineering, Textile Engineering,
Textile Polymer and Color Chemistry, Materials Science
and Engineering and Apparel management Technology. The
students will be working under the supervision of personnel
from the mill and Faculty members from NCSU.
This program
is one of a series of projects that VESTEX and NC State
University College of Textiles, will offer to support the
industry in Central America.
