El
5 de agosto 2003 la Comisión de la Industria de
Vestua-rio y Textiles de Guatemala -VESTEX- celebró
su asamblea anual. Debido a que el tema principal de la
reunión fue el Tratado de Libre Comercio entre
Estados Unidos y Centro América TLC-CAUSA, el Sr.
Luis Oscar Estrada -Gerente de VESTEX-explicó y
discutió con el gremio en forma detallada los avances
y las expectativas del sector.
Además fue presentada la Memoria de Labores del
periodo 2002-2003 y el Plan de Trabajo para el periodo
2003-2004.
La Comisión VESTEX abarca a todos los diferentes
niveles de la cadena de suministros desde empresas proveedoras
de hilaza, telas y otros textiles, representantes y proveedores
de accesorios, empresas de servicios y acabados, logística
y transporte, entre otros, hasta representantes de minoristas |

Textile
Industry Committee of Guatemala (VESTEX) celebrated its
annual general assembly on August 5th, 2003. The main
subject of the meeting was the Free Trade Agreement between
the United States and Central America, CAFTA, so Mr. Luis
Oscar Estrada, Manager of VESTEX, explained and discussed
in detail the advances and expectations of the sector
with all its members.
The Annual Report for the period 2002-2003 was also presented,
and the Work Plan for the period 2003-2004.
The VESTEX Committee incorporates all different levels
of the supply chain, from companies supplying thread,
fabrics and other textiles, representatives and suppliers
of accessories, service and finishing industries, logistics
and transportation, among others, to representatives of
retailers and clients of the United States |

16 al 18 de septiem-bre 2003, en la ciudad de Antigua
Guatemala
-Guatemala- se desarrolló en forma exitosa este
evento organizado por el Cotton Council International
en donde se reunieron las empresas de hilandería
y tejidos de algodón de Estados Unidos con las
empresas líderes de paquete completo de la ICC.
Con un excelente programa de dos días, concluyó
este evento, combinando la capacitación técnica
e información comercial con una feria comercial
y citas de negocios entre importadores americanos, textileros
y empresas de paquete completo.

The
event took place in Antigua Guatemala from September 16
to 18, organized by Cotton Council International, and
served as meeting point for yarn and cotton knit companies
from the United States and leading full package companies
of the CBI.
The event lasted two days and included an excellent program,
combining technical training and commercial information
with a trade fair and business meetings between U.S.,
importers, textile executives and full package companies.
