AUDITORIAS
DE CUMPLIMIENTO SOCIAL – Algunas consideraciones.
Es
cada vez más frecuente escuchar de parte de ejecutivos
de las empresas que hemos auditado y de amigos que están
en la industria de la confección, algunas preguntas sobre
temas relacionados con las auditorías de cumplimiento en
materia de responsabilidad social, las que creo interesante comentar
brevemente en este espacio, desde la particular óptica
de un S.C.O. o Auditor Social.
¿Porqué tantas auditorías? Puede esperarse
que esta práctica se repetirá tanto más cuanto
mayor sea el número de clientes para los que la empresa
trabaje – podemos pensar en un mínimo de 2 auditorías
por cada cliente en un período de tiempo, una inicial y
otra(s) reauditoría(s) de revisión del cumplimiento
del Plan de Acciones Correctivas generado por la primera. Dado
el abanico de normas que la auditoría comprende, hasta
la fecha, no hemos encontrado una sola empresa que no haya sido
objeto de un plan de acción correctiva, C.A.P. (Corrective
Action Plan).
¿Cuáles son las desviaciones o violaciones de las
normas más frecuentes? Aunque es difícil generalizar,
podemos decir que las más frecuentes son

COMPLIANCE AUDITS
– Some considerations.
With
ever increasing frequency we hear from executives of audited companies,
and friends in the apparel industry, questions regarding subjects
related to the social compliance audits which are interesting
and deserve to be commented briefly from the particular viewpoint
of a S.C.O. or Social Compliance Officer.
Why so many audits? It is foreseeable that this procedure will
be repeated in direct proportion to the number of clients for
which the factory works In respect to work hours, maybe it refers
to the hour or extra hours that employees fulfill daily.
Which are the most frequent deviations or violations to the norms?
Although it is hard to generalize, we may state that the most
frequent ones are those related to Safety and Hygiene, due to
their wide reach, and second, those having to do with work hours.
Why is the apparel industry always audited? The answers are varied.
Among them: First, because it was pioneer in establishing codes
of conduct. And second, because it is a labor intensive industry.
