Através del contacto con los empresarios de la industria de la confección se detectó la carencia de técnicos mecánicos de maquinaria para la confección industrial calificados, que contribuyan con su trabajo a la tecnificación de las empresas y, consecuentemente a elevar la productividad de las mismas.

Se hizo un cálculo aproximado del número de mecánicos calificados que son requeridos en la actualidad por la industria. Partiendo de la recomendación teórica que indica que, por cada 50 máquinas debe haber un mecánico disponible, y considerando que el último censo de maquinaria realizado indicaba que hay 76,684 máquinas trabajando en la industria, se puede deducir matemáticamente que el sector necesita

The lack of technical and qualified machine mechanics’ that may contribute with their work to take advantage of technology in the companies, and as a consequence increase productivity, was established through contacts with apparel industry’s businesspersons.

An estimate was made about the number of qualified mechanics now required in the industry. Taking into account the theoretical recommendation that indicates that for every 50 machines there must be a mechanic on hand, and considering that the last machinery census indicated there are 76,684 machines working in the
Industry, one can mathematically deduct that the sector needs at least 1,534 mechanics to ensure their maintenance and good working conditions.
