El premio INDUSTRIA SIN RIESGOS surgió como una iniciativa empresarial para promover un ambiente seguro para los trabajadores de la industria de la confección.
En la Comisión de Vestuario y Textiles estamos convencidos de que es esencial que la gerencia, al igual que los empleados, se familiaricen con los problemas de salud y seguridad en su trabajo para prevenir accidentes y enfermedades.
Siendo así, el premio INDUSTRIA SIN RIESGOS nació en al año 2,002, con el propósito de crear un plan de aseguramiento continuo en las empresas de la industria del vestuario. Para ello, se diseñó un Programa Piloto y se conformó un grupo de 36 empresas a quienes se les ofreció capacitación en el tema de salud y seguridad ocupacional –para gerentes y mandos medios-, durante todo el año, mediante cursos cortos y seminarios intensivos, y en el que contamos con el apoyo de la Organización Internacional del Trabajo OIT y del proyecto del departamento de trabajo de los Estados Unidos de América CERSSO.
Los beneficios de tener un sitio de trabajo seguro y saludable son muchísimos: se cuenta con colaboradores más motivados, la producción mejora y el riesgo de accidentes se reduce.
La evaluación de los peligros o lo que técnicamente se reconoce como “mapeo de riesgos” es el paso siguiente al estar conscientes de la importancia de un lugar de trabajo seguro. ¿Cómo están expuestos los trabajadores? ¿Cuál es el nivel de exposición? ¿Cuáles son los efectos de exposición?

 

The INDUSTRY WITHOUT RISKS VESTEX AWARD was created as a business initiative to promote a safe workplace for all who labor in the apparel industry.
At the Apparel and Textiles Commission VESTEX we are certain that it is essential for management, as well as personnel, be fully aware of the safety and security problems at their workplace to prevent accidents and sickness.

This is the reason why the “INDUSTRY WITHOUT RISKS” award was established in 2002, with the purpose of creating a continuous assurance plan among the apparel companies. A pilot program was established and a group of 36 companies was integrated. They received training in safety and security at work related issues, both at managerial and middle levels, during all of 2002, through short courses and intensive seminars. These had the support of the International Labor Organization (ILO) and of the CERSSO project of the Department of Labor of the United States of America.
The benefits of having a safer and healthier work environment are immense: personnel is much more motivated, production increases and the risk of accidents decreases.

The evaluation of the risks, or what is technically known as “risk mapping”, is the next step after being conscious of the importance of a safe work environment. How is personnel exposed? What is the exposure to hazardous levels? What are the effects of such exposure, if any? These are some of the many questions to be answered when evaluating risks at work. Certain instruments are of great help to objectively evaluate the risks present at any workplace.
